1. Who we are

The Redundancy Brief (redundancybrief.co.uk) is operated as a sole trader based in England. For the purposes of UK GDPR, the operator is the data controller.

Contact: contact@redundancybrief.co.uk

2. What data is collected

This site collects minimal data. Specifically:

If you purchase a digital product through this site, the transaction is processed by Gumroad Inc. Gumroad collects and processes your payment details, email address, and purchase information. The Redundancy Brief receives a record of completed transactions including your email address and the product purchased. Gumroad's privacy policy governs their handling of your data.

If you send an email to the contact address above, your email address and the content of your message are retained for the purpose of responding to you.

This site does not operate an account system, a mailing list, or a subscription service.

3. Cookies and analytics

This site may use basic analytics (such as page view counts) to understand traffic. Any such tools are configured to avoid storing personally identifiable information. No advertising cookies are used. No third-party tracking pixels are embedded.

If you have browser cookies disabled, the site will function normally.

4. Legal basis for processing

Where personal data is held, the legal basis is either legitimate interest (email correspondence, transaction records) or contract performance (fulfilling a digital product purchase). No data is processed on the basis of consent, and no consent banners are currently required given the limited nature of data collection described above.

5. Data retention

Transaction records are retained for a minimum of six years in accordance with HMRC guidance applicable to sole traders. Email correspondence is retained only as long as necessary to resolve the relevant enquiry.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to request access to personal data held about you, to request its correction or deletion, and to object to its processing. Submit requests to contact@redundancybrief.co.uk. Requests will be acknowledged within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

7. Third parties

This site does not sell, share, or transfer personal data to third parties except as described above in relation to Gumroad. No data is transferred outside the UK or EEA in a manner that would require additional safeguards under UK GDPR, except insofar as Gumroad operates under its own international data transfer arrangements, which are governed by their own policy.

8. Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected in an updated date at the top of this page.

Independent Legal Advice
If you have received a settlement agreement, you are required by law to take independent legal advice from a qualified adviser before the agreement is legally binding. Your employer must contribute to the cost of that advice. This publication cannot provide it. ACAS Helpline: 0300 123 1100, Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm.

The publication is updated when statutory figures change or when procedural law requires it. The current edition reflects the position as of June 2026. Earlier issues of this publication remain available at their original URLs. The index is at redundancybrief.co.uk.
